And encoders both software and the people nowadays are very experienced and the end result is great quality with unbelievable file sizes.
Large hard drives are not dirt cheap. Music which we listen over and over again needs to be kept as flac and that alone consumes tonnes of space. And most anime fans already have gigantic hard disks bursting at their seams. While H definitely can preserve the same quality using lower bit rate compared to H, you still should avoid reencodes. Video encode always means quality loss, since it's lossy, and reencode is the additional quality loss on top of that. Find uncompressed source and encode it, then nobody would complain.
